The Department of Korean Language and Literature makes student understand Korean Language and Literature correctly and in depth by studying, analyzing, and reviewing the essence, formation, historical evolution aspects of Korean language and literature through the wide understanding of Korean language and educates them in making a great contribution to character training by being basically learned as true Koreans.

The Department of Korean Language and Literature has educated students to foster the following talented persons.

1. Talented persons of intellect and refinement to be able to have self-esteem as Koreans by studying all the fields of Korean linguistics and literature in balance
2. Talented persons who can play able leading roles in each institution of society related to Korean language and literature
3.  Talented persons with basic elements that they can brush up on their studies by entering graduate school. The academic field has been extended by connecting it to various cooperative processes including renaissance humanities, video literary creation, etc. with the operation of basic curriculums to foster them. 
 

The Department of Korean Language and Literature is the basic study that executes the academic activities by making a language a medium. So its opportunities for employment are comparatively wide. The graduating students produced by the Department of Korean Language and Literature in this school have actively been active in the literary world, the press, the financial world, the publishing world, the civil servants, and various fields of other communities by entering them.
The department has operated major tracks by occupational cluster to connect graduation from the educational major of the Department of Korean Language and Literature to students' entry into society. Tracks to deepen the major include Korean language education, cultural planning, and literary creation. There are tracks to follow employees' employment in the press, publishing companies, and general companies or prepare civil service examinations.

The Department of History selected first new students in 1983, the next year that Hallym University was founded. The master and doctor's courses have been installed as the independent department that now belongs to the Division of Humanities. The Department of History has set cultivating students of history and cultured persons with universal common sense, historical insight, and civil intellect through wide and balanced history education about oriental history, Western history, and archeology as well as Korean history as a goal. It has opened various lectures about the entire field before history and executed projects related to domestic and overseas in-site surveys and all kinds of historical and cultural contents to accomplish the goal.

Graduating students from the Department of History can become scholars as professors of universities and go into professional excavation institutions like national museums, university museums, and curators and cultural research institutes in the cultural assets field. And furthermore, wide choices of jobs and activities have been opened in the entire field of society and culture. In case of the Department of History, students can make open and more various career choices as knowledge and insight given by education, all kinds of practices and training about all the fields of history ranging from universal common sense about men's lives and history, Korean history, oriental history, Western history, and Archeology for 4 years during the faculty.

Philosophy is a field of study which significantly functions among ordinary persons' thinking and individual studies and reflects on the aspects that they do not reflect on the meaning and human nature. Therefore, All the important concepts and reasons to intervene in composing our faith and decision of actions are subject to review. And it studies how the basic concepts should be used to be able to provide correct knowledge for the world ourselves. Critical and reasonable thinking ability and just norm consciousness and values are cultivated.

Students get to have capabilities and opportunities to be active in each field of society as they get to have logical and their analytic thinking skills and judgement ability. Graduating students from the Department of Philosophy have been active in the academic world, the press, the publishing world, the educational world, civic movements, the cultural and arts world, and each field of other society by going into them. Especially, they have a lot of opportunities to be active in education of logic and essay and institutions related to culture that needs humanistic knowledge. The Department of Philosophy has provided all kinds of information on the career fields that persons from it can enter by giving special lectures of employment every year.
