About the Department
Students in the department of social welfare learn knowledge and skills to address many social problems including family, children, senior citizens and adolescence delinquency due to industrialization and modernization. Students also study methods to develop their practices at social service agencies. Studies on social welfare are required for modern society where individual, psychological and social structural problems occur. Social welfare is one of the major future-oriented studies that its necessity has increased.
Educational objectives
Educational objectives of the Department of Social Welfare in Hallym University are to foster professionals in the field of social welfare who work in governments, public institutions, and domestic and overseas social welfare agencies for the improvement of well-being of people. Since 1982 when the department was established, the Department of Social Welfare in Hallym University has committed to educate practice-oriented professionals in social welfare areas. As a result, great numbers of graduates have played central roles in various social welfare areas. Recently, the department has promoted best educational environments such as opening lectures taught in English, providing opportunities for overseas training and exchange students programs to improve the competence of students as professionals in globalized environments. The Department of Social Welfare in Hallym University has continued to develop with the help of the high standing faculties' passionate education, differentiated and systematic educational programs and passionate atmospheres for student learning. The department has received national projects supported by the Ministry of Education based on the department's competence and the University's substantial financial support.
