Hallym Students Win 9th Korea SW Convergence Hackathon Competition Prize

Undergraduate students from the Department of Software at Hallym University won the grand prize at ‘The 9th Korea SW Convergence Hackathon Competition.’

□ Hallym University students from the School of Software won the grand prize (Minister of Science, Technology, Information and Communication Award) at the '9th Korea SW Convergence Hackathon' held for three days from 16th to 18th September.


□ A five million won prize was awarded in the free project category to the winning team. 


□ The Korea SW Convergence Hackathon was held for the ninth year this year and was hosted by the Ministry of Science and ICT and the Information and Communication Industry Promotion Agency (NIPA). It is the largest hackathon competition in Korea, hosted by SW Convergence Cluster and sponsored by a total of 13 regional governments including Chungcheongbuk-do. 


The DeepSeat Team, which consisted of Ko Seongji (Big Data Major), Na Younghoon (Big Data Major), Choi Myung-geun (Contents IT Major), and Lee Jeil (Big Data Major) idea applies reliable AI image processing technology application that automatically detects seat occupancy with only one camera (without a separate sensor) and provides it to the user. 


□ The competition was held in the Seokwoo Cultural Gymnasium, Cheongju University, and the participants drew ideas under the theme of 'software convergence technology and service for the future', and made the results in the form of prototypes through coding and programming processes.


□ Meanwhile, Hallym University has been selected for the SW-Centered University Support Project hosted by the Ministry of Science and ICT and is operating SW education centered on practical projects. Various open source technologies have been researched with the support of the SW -centered university project group.
