We will listen to a diagnosis of the socio-economic confusion caused by COVID-19 from two scholars and suggestions for directions to overcome it. 

On the Friday 23rd October, the diagnosis of the current situation was discussed.

◇ Kim  Choong-soo,  President of Hallym University: As I mentioned earlier, it is an economic crisis, and social conflict increases during an economic crisis. A non-growing society becomes more sensitive to distribution as it stays in the zero-sum phenomenon rather than the positive sum. In particular, when the phenomenon of'untact' becomes widespread, the opportunity for each economic entity to cooperate to create value is lost, and there is a tendency that only very little competition occurs. 

A sense of community is formed when the national vision is established and the members' common goals are formed, and this vision formation is the duty of the state. 
 
 ◇ Choe Jae Chun ,  Chair Professor, Ewha University: There is a claim that social disgust and conflict have increased due to COVID-19, but humans are animals that have evolved to hate each other. Hate is the product of natural evolution, but it is never wise to hate anyone and anything unconditionally. Based on the facts that science has revealed, appropriate hatred should be left alone, but excessive, unfounded hatred should be prevented. 

As I suffered from Corona this time, I had an expectation that the local community might be revitalized. I don't want to go out of town to meet anyone or go to a restaurant to enjoy a meal, but I visit local restaurants and shops. I think it was an opportunity to see my community again. 
 
 ◇ Kim  Choong-soo, President of Hallym University: The world's tourism industry has been hit hardest, and Gangwon-do has been unable to find a short-term solution, so I feel great sympathy. First of all, I don't think it is correct to believe that the economic condition will return to the past once the COVID-19 is over. Now we have to transform ourselves. It is also meaningful to approach tourism in the context of experiencing the'health industry', and it is necessary to make full use of the fact that Gangwon-do is a treasure trove of such blessings.

It is necessary to change the perspective of tourism in which health is managed while viewing nature from the one-dimensional form of tourism in the past. The IMF also suggests that it is desirable to relocate the traditional travel industry manpower to fields such as e-commerce, which will increase social demand in the future. 
 
 ◇ Choe Jae Chun ,  Chair Professor, Ewha University : We are proud of our people in that we are responding to COVID-19 through cooperation. I'm afraid that it will become'Gukpon (Similar to the meaning of Merica)', but I think that K-Defense deserves praise. We prepared ahead of time based on the painful experiences of the MERS era, and everyone is working together. Personally, I was asked to write a paper on the digital contact tracing of our quarantine authorities in the world-class journal Inference. 

I want to criticize personal information violations for mobilizing all mobile phone information at the national level, but in emergency situations such as a pandemic, the secret to the success of K-quarantine is that the country has revised the law so that personal information can be used temporarily.

I emphasized that it is one of the. I chose a really difficult path and did a good job at a level that didn't overwhelm the economy. 
 
 ■  Coexistence with virus... ICT vitalization, international cooperation should be strengthened
 
  ◇ Kim  Choong-soo, President of Hallym University: In times of chaos, we need the humility and wisdom to gather expert cessation. We need leadership that demands the people to endure the pain as well. The most important thing to watch out for is to come across a situation that can be compared to a'winner's curse'. In other words, we must prevent society from falling into a worse state due to the side effects of the policies that have been implemented for overcoming the crisis. Meanwhile, it is judged that the existing order in the world is being overturned by COVID. It can be said that the opportunity has come for the person who has been following others to lead. It is important to induce all members of the country to have the spirit of holding the initiative of change,
 
 ◇ Choe Jae Chun ,  Chair Professor, Ewha University: If you try to cleanly eradicate the last virus on the Korean Peninsula so that there is no single infected person, you will have to continue this hard work endlessly. The goal cannot be to eradicate viruses. At some point, they must coexist. You need to carefully study and discuss when the moment of coexistence is. So I think trust and bonds are needed to overcome the current crisis. We must realize the power of Solidarity and find our way. 
 
 ◇ Kim  Choong-soo,  President of Hallym University: First of all, in the global economy, the importance of'Climate Change, nature, and medical science development' will be recognized more importantly. 

I don't think the domestic economy can escape from this big trend. However, whether it is possible to reduce the nation's rapidly increasing debt and how to re-establish the discipline of economic activity in a state of widespread economic behavior that is familiar with debt will emerge as the key to the possibility of sustainable growth in the future . 

The key is whether to endure long periods of pain and have the'resilient power' of the economy to overcome difficulties. In particular, we should focus on improving their productivity by investing in education and training so that the'Lost Generation' comparable to that of the IMF generation 20 years ago does not appear as a result of unemployment or lack of education. 

One hopeful thing is that we have emerged as a global ICT powerhouse, so we can use it to pave the way for a new leap forward. It is to invest intensively in ICT in three areas:'medical, digital, and green'. Lastly, we need to turn our eyes abroad and focus on strengthening international cooperation efforts to promote multilateral trade. 
 
 ◇ Choe Jae Chun ,  Chair Professor, Ewha University: Smallpox virus is the only virus that has been successfully eradicated or eradicated by our humanity. Coexistence is the only answer. So it has no choice but to'weed' COVID-19.

Unfortunately, this is likely to happen frequently in the future. The population is still growing explosively, and as long as our attitudes toward nature are not re-established, the infectious disease caused by the common carrier virus will continue and will plague us much more often. 

We now have the ability to identify and take countermeasures if a virus attacks it relatively quickly. If you trust and faithfully follow the guidelines of the WHO and other quarantine authorities, you can sufficiently prevent the spread of a global pandemic. Invest in science and preventive medicine.
