Opening of the 2020 Intramural League

The 2020 Hallym University Intramural League was officially opened in the evening of Tuesday 3rd November. The opening ceremony was held in Hallym Recreation Center and was attended by some of the competing teams.

This year, a total of 90 teams will participate in five sports such as soccer, baseball, tennis, relay and e-sports. This semester’s ‘slimmed down’ selection of sports reflected the delay to the start of the league, which was brought about by COVID.

In his congratulatory speech, President Choongsoo Kim said ‘The intramural League is the proudest event of all activities on campus.

Physical education is important enough to sometimes refer to ‘Knowledge, Virtue and Body’ as ‘Body, Virtue and Knowledge.’

In addition, Yusik Yang (4th year undergraduate student in the Physical Education Department), Director of Sports Bureau of the Student Council and a member of the Tournament Steering Committee said, ‘The Intramural League has quickly established itself as one of the biggest events on campus. Although there were concerns about the operation this year, it is meaningful to be able to hold an event that fits the vision of Hallym University.’

The Intramural League, first started in 2016 as part of the ‘Activation of Campus Life,’ which is one of the key initiatives of Hallym ‘Action 2016-2022’ has entered the 5th year this year. The Intramural League is characterized by the formation of a Steering Committee centered on the Student Council so that students can plan, operate and evaluate autonomously.
