Sion Park, a freshman in the School of Global Studies, publishes a thesis in a journal registered in KCI

The thesis   “  Lexical frames in L2 writing development: A longitudinal study by Sion Park, a freshman at Hallym University's School of Global Studies, was published in the Journal of the Korea English Education Society December, 2020 under the guidance of Professor Yu-kyoung Shin (Global School)


The thesis is a content analysis of p-frames and lexical bundles of writing and was written by Sion during her first semester at Hallym University.


The published thesis was written while Sion took the required liberal arts classes for freshman students at the School of Global Studies through ZOOM. 


In the class'Intermediate Academic Research' taught by Professor Yu-kyoung Shin, undergraduate students publish thesis every semester. 


The research class, based on corpus data, aims to provide opportunities for convergence research between the interests of students and the Department of Corpus Linguistics beyond the boundaries of the major.

In May of this year, the paper “  Retaliated   with tariffs on:  A corpus-based analysis of lexical bundles in TED talks and BBC news in Global Business issues ” written by Dohwan Shin (Global Business Major) was also published. 


Furthermore, through this class, joint thesis by Hallym's global undergraduate students were published twice last year. 


Seo-jeong Ko and 7 other students “  Syntactic complexity of recurrent multiword sequences in the writings of published authors and L1 and L2 English apprentice writers ” were also published in SCOPUS-registered journals.
