Korea has decided to pause "living with COVID-19" and impose stricter social distancing rules to control the rising daily infections and the spread of the omicron variant.

From Monday December 6, private gatherings of up to 8 people are allowed in non-capital areas including Chuncheon, while groups of up to 6 are allowed in the capital area. Only one unvaccinated person per group is permitted in restaurants or cafes.

A proof of vaccination or a negative PCR test result is required not only at public baths, pubs or gyms but also in restaurants, cafes, movie theaters, study cafes, libraries, museums and other public spaces.

Inbound travelers should have a 10-day mandatory self-isolation regardless of their vaccination status.
